Jiangsu November 08, 2021: China’s Suzhou Huasu Plastics shuts its 140,000 tonnes/year ethylene-based polyvinyl chloride (PVC) plant at Taicang in Jiangsu province for maintenance in early November, a company source said.
The company was running the plant at full capacity before the shutdown, the source said, and it plans to restart it at the end of November after three weeks planned shutdown for maintenance.
The tight supply of feedstock vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) led Suzhou Huasu Plastics to shut its plant.
Spot ethylene-based PVC prices in east China were assessed at ($1,750-1,800/tonne) EXW (ex-works) on 08 May, according to data from Chemease, an ICIS service in China.
Suzhou Huasu Plastics is a key ethylene-based PVC manufacturer in east China.
