Karachi August 7 2024: Advisor to Chief Minister Sindh on Livestock and Fisheries, Syed Najmi Alam, Wednesday, said that three seafood processing companies of Pakistan have been cleared for exporting their products to European Union.
The Advisor to CM was chairing a meeting regarding sanitation of Karachi Fish Harbor Authority that was attended by Secretary Livestock and Fisheries Dr. Kazim Hussain Jatoi, Director Karachi Fish Harbor Authority Syed Asim Karim and representative of Hangzhou Jinjiang Group Engineer Muhammad Khalid and others, said a statement issued here.
The government was making all out efforts for complete removal of ban imposed by European Union on export of fish and seafood from Pakistan, Syed Najmi Alam said adding that we are working on a pilot project in this regard under the directives of President Asif Ali Zardari.
He said that three Pakistani companies engaged in processing and export of fish and other seafood have been cleared for exports to EU while the clearance process for another company was in the final process.
The advisor expressed interest in entering into a contract the Chinese company for cleaning of the fish harbor keeping in view its working experience with Sindh Solid Waste Management Board and availability of machinery and expertise in harbor cleaning works.
It was decided in the meeting that Hangzhou Jinjiang Group will conduct a detailed visit to Karachi Fish Harbor and submit its report to the authority concerned that will finalize the sanitation plan accordingly.
