Islamabad August 1 2024: According to data from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, the trade deficit in July 2024 decreased by 19 percent MoM to USD 1,947 million, marking the lowest deficit in the past five months.
This MoM decline in the trade deficit is attributed to a 14 percent decrease in imports, although exports also saw a 10 percent MoM decline.
YoY, the trade deficit in goods increased by 20 percent. This rise in the monthly trade deficit is primarily due to a 15 percent increase in imports, while exports also grew by 12 percent YoY during the month.
