Islamabad June 12 2024: Pakistan increase the salaries and pension of government employees in the recent budget to compensate against inflation.
“The purchasing power of people has been affected by inflation. Salaried class is particularly affected by it. This is the reason the government, despite its financial difficulties, is taking relief measures to alleviate the difficulties of the employees” states Finance Minister.
These measures include a 25% increase in salaries of employees from grade 1 to 16 and a 22% increase in the salaries of officers from grade 17 to 22. Additionally, a 22% increase is being proposed in the pensions of retired employees. Similarly, the minimum monthly wage is being increased from thirty-two thousand (32,000) rupees to thirty-six thousand (36,000) rupees.
