Islamabad May 24 2024: Pakistan’s national per capita income increased by 8% during the fiscal year 2024, reaching USD 1,680 compared to USD 1,551 in the fiscal year 2023, according to data released by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.
However, this income remains lower than the levels seen in 2017 and 2022 due to significant rupee devaluation.
In rupee terms, the average Pakistani income increased by 1.78 times, rising to PKR 475,281 per capita in the fiscal year 2024 from PKR 170,924 per capita in 2017. In contrast, in dollar terms, it only increased by USD 40 since 2017.
The average exchange rate was PKR 104.24 against the dollar in 2017, which devalued to PKR 282.46 in the fiscal year 2024. The average dollar rate in the fiscal year 2024 alone was 13.9 percent higher compared to the previous year.
