Islamabad September 28 2023: KAPCO demand tariff range of PKR 28.80 to PKR 36.81 from NEPRA to run its plant including capacity payments, according to company filing to the exchange.
KAPCO has ten gas turbines with different technologies and different thermal efficiencies spread in different energy blocks. KAPCO’s power plant is the only one in Pakistan which has tri-fuel capability. That is, it can use low sulphur furnace oi! (LSFO), gas and high speed diesel for power generation. Hence, KAPCO’s tariff petition filed before NEPRA is based on different set of assumptions including fuel prices, technology of machines and thermal efficiencies of the respective energy blocks.
Based on the quoted fuel prices, KAPCO tariff petition before NEPRA is on unit rate (Rs/Kwh) of the efficient energy blocks, which ranges from PKR 28.80 to PKR 30.33 on low sulphur furnace oil (LSFO); and on gas (RLNG) the unit rate (Rs/Kwh) ranges from PKR 33.75 to PKR 36.81, inclusive of capacity charges.
