Islamabad August 29 2023: Soon after the Islamabad High Court temporarily suspended the conviction of former Prime Minister Imran Khan in the Tosha Khana case and granted him bail, a specialized court in Islamabad apprehended him in the Cipher case and confined him in Attock Jail.
Directives have been issued to have him present before the specialized court on August 30 (Wednesday).
According to the order issued by Judge Abdul Hasnat Muhammad Zulqarnain of the Official Secrets Act Court, Imran Khan is implicated in the cipher disappearance case and is currently undergoing investigation. Thus, he is to be held in Attock Jail under judicial remand for this particular case.
It’s worth mentioning that aside from Imran Khan, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, the vice-chairman of Tehreek-e-Insaf, is already in physical custody, while Asad Umar is out on bail. Imran Khan has also been questioned twice by the FIA investigation team at Attock Jail in relation to the same case.
