Lahore March 9 2023: The Lahore High Court has suspended the notification of the ban on broadcasting the speeches and statements of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Imran Khan on TV channels.
It should be remembered that the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) had banned broadcasting of live or recorded speeches and statements of Imran Khan on satellite TV channels. Imran Khan was accused of running a campaign based on baseless accusations against institutions and personalities in his speeches.
Tehreek-e-Insaf approached the Lahore High Court against this decision of PEMRA. During the hearing of this case on Thursday, Justice Shams Mehmood Mirza suspended the ban notification and sent the matter to the full bench for hearing.
The next hearing of this case will be held on March 13.
