Islamabad March 1 2023: Pakistan CPI inflation General, increased to 31.5% on year-on-year basis in Feb 2023 as compared to an increase of 27.6% in the previous month and 12.2% in Feb 2022, according to data published by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.
Inflation for the month of February hit all time high surpassing previous level of 29.29% hit in April 1975. Surprisingly, inflation cooled down to 4.48% just after a period of one year in April 1976.
On month-on-month basis, it increased to 4.3% in Feb 2023 as compared to an increase of 2.9% in the previous month and an increase of 1.2% in Feb 2022.
Inflation in Urban areas increased to 28.8% on year-on-year basis in Feb 2023 as compared to an increase of 24.4% in the previous month and 11.5% in Feb 2022. On month-on-month basis, it increased to 4.5% in Feb 2023 as compared to an increase of 2.4% in the previous month and an increase of 0.9% in Feb 2022.
Whereas Inflation in rural areas increased to 35.6% on year-on-year basis in Feb 2023 as compared to an increase of 32.3% in the previous month and 13.3% in Feb 2022. On month-on-month basis, it increased to 4.0% in Feb 2023 as compared to an increase of 3.6% in the previous month and an increase of 1.5% in Feb 2022.
Household inflation measured by SPI inflation on YoY increased to 33.6% in Feb 2023 as compared to an increase of 30.5% a month earlier and 18.7% in Feb 2022. On MoM basis, it increased by 3.7% in Feb 2023 as compared to an increase of 1.3% a month earlier and an increase of 1.3% in Feb 2022.
