Islamabad February 28 2023: The Supreme Court reserved its decision on the Suo Motu case of the Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa election, after the arguments of Salman Akram Raja, the lawyer of the President of Pakistan, were completed.
The decision will be announced on Wednesday i.e. tomorrow at 11 am.
Salman Akram Raja argued that under the Election Act, the President and Governor has been empowered to give the date of the elections without the advise of someone.
Salman Akram Raja argued that the President also has the authority to give the date of the election of the Provincial Assemblies. On which Justice Jamal Khan Mandukhel said that his position will come on the authority of the President.
Salman Akram Raja continued his arguments and said that the Governor was not using the power to give the KP date.
The President’s lawyer told the court that the President admits that he should not have given a date for the election in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The President did not have the authority to give a date for the KP election and the President will review his decision.
