Islamabad January 10 2023: The Election Commission has issued bailable arrest warrants against former Prime Minister Imran Khan, PTI Secretary General Asad Umar and Fawad Chaudhry for allegedly impugning the Chief Election Commissioner.
The Election Commission also rejected the requests for exemption from the presence of the three persons during the hearing of the petitions.
A four-member bench headed by Election Commission member Nisar Durrani delivered the decision.
It should be noted that the Supreme Court has also asked the Election Commission to continue the action against them.
The Supreme Court had said in its decision that no High Court of the country has stopped the Election Commission from proceeding.
The Election Commission will take further action in this matter on January 17.
