Lahore June 4 2022: Amjad Pervez, counsel for Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shahbaz in a money laundering case in a special court in Lahore, is giving arguments for confirmation of interim bail.
Giving arguments, Amjad Pervez said that investigations were carried out for a year and a half but FIA could not bring any evidence on record.
He said that the worst political engineering has been done in the recent past and the Lahore High Court has also declared political engineering as a reality.
Amjad Pervez argued that Mushtaq Cheeni was said to be involved in the investigation. Mushtaq Cheeni was neither made a witness nor an accused.
He says the government machinery has been used in the past to suppress opposition leaders.
During the hearing, the judge questioned whether the FIA wanted the arrest of Shahbaz Sharif and Hamza Shahbaz. In response, the FIA prosecutor said that the arrest of both Shahbaz Sharif and Hamza Shahbaz is required.
The FIA says the suspects wore not involved in the investigation.
On this occasion, Amjad Pervez told the court that the FIA lawyers were misrepresenting the accused.
