Sub heading: Saudi side agreed to review the recognition of Pakistani degrees based on distance learning model from HEC recognized universities
Islamabad May 16 2022: Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training Rana Tanveer Hussain chaired a high powered follow-up meeting on his recent visit to Saudi Arabia.
The meeting was attended by senior officials of the ministry.
Federal minister called the meeting to fast track the agreement done with the counter parts in Saudi Arabia. Rana Tanveer said that we have a lot of talent but we lack on the aspect of execution hence we need to focus more on the implementation of plans.
In line with this philosophy, he said that an Immediately a Joint Working Group (JWG) should be constituted on Education and Professional Training headed by Secretary level officer from both sides and comprising of officers from both ministries and a representative from respective embassy in both countries.
Federal minister said that keeping in view the 2030 vision of KSA, we need to enhance the skillset of Pakistani workforce so that they can meet the future labour requirement of Saudi Arabia.
Technical and Vocational Training Corporation of Saudi Arabia (TVTC) will assist in identifying the exact trades and areas of expertise required in KSA, in order to assist Pakistani side to train its workforce accordingly. Rana Tanveer said that we need to look ahead and plan for the future of the country.
He said said that owing to Saudi willingness to invest in enhancing skillset of Pakistani workforce a comprehensive proposal for uplifting of National Skills University should be presented to them.
Rana Tanveer said that Saudi Arabia counterparts have also agreed to resume 600 Scholarships offered earlier for Pakistani students in Saudi Universities and also agreed to resume screening test through HEC.
