Islamabad November 21 2021: Based on the information provided by Central Power Purchasing Agency Guarantee Limited (CPPA-G), NEPRA is set to increase electricity prices by PKR 4.994 per unit for the month of February 2022 due to high fuel cost adjustment (FCA).
Based on the information the provided by CPPA the actual fuel charges for the EX-WAPDA DISCOs for the month of February 2022 worked out to be PKR 9.1957 per unit which is PKR 4.994 per unit higher than reference tariff.
During the month, fuel cost increased by 216 percent year on year due to in higher reliance on Residual Fuel Oil (RFO). During the month, country generated 526 GWh of electricity on RFO.
NEPRA has provided reference fuel price of PKR 4.2516 per unit as per decision of the Authority for EX-WAPDA DISCOs for the month of February 2022, as proposed by CPPA-G.
However, the final decision by NEPRA will be taken on March 31st after the hearing of all stakeholders.
