Karachi March 17 2022: Foreign exchange reserves held by State Bank of Pakistan down by USD 381 million during the week ending March 11, 2022, as per data released by the Central Bank.
The main reason of this decrease in foreign exchange reserves is external debt repayments. This is the fifth continuous decline in reserves held by the central bank.
At present, SBP reserves stands at the level of USD 15.832 billion as of 11th March 2022 compared to USD 16.212 billion at the end of week ending 4th March 2022.
During the same period, foreign exchange reserves held by commercial banks also decreased by USD 5 million to the level of USD 6.452 billion as of 11th March 2022.
Overall reserves held by country witnessed a decrease of USD 382 million during the week ended 11th March 2022.
