Saudi Arabia and Iraq Sign MoU to Start Implementing Electrical Interconnection Project

Riyadh, January 25, 2022, SPA -- The Saudi Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Electricity of the Republic of Iraq signed today a memorandum of understanding (MoU) framing the joint cooperation in the field of electrical interconnection between the two countries' networks.
The MoU was co-signed by Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Energy, and Acting Iraqi Minister of Electricity Eng. Adel Karim, in the presence of Iraqi Oil Minister Ihsan Abdul Jabbar virtually, and with the participation and presence of Secretary-General of Iraqi Council of Ministers and National Coordinator of the Iraqi-Saudi Coordination Council Dr. Hamid Naim Al-Ghazi.
In a speech on this occasion, the Minister of Energy said: "The signing of this MoU comes in implementation of the directives of the leaderships of the two countries, by taking everything that would strengthen the relations and the strategic partnership between the two countries in all fields," adding that this project comes within the framework of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 and its executive programs.
