Islamabad August 2 2022: Pakistan Tahreek-i-Insaaf receive illegal funding from abroad says three member election commission bench.
PTI didn't give details of thirteen accounts and Imran khan statement submitted before Commission was also not correct.
The Election Commission had announced the verdict of the prohibited funding case at 10 am today, but after some delay, Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja announced the unanimous verdict of the three-member bench.
Donations were received from USA, Australia and UAE,PTI failed to tell about these accounts and concealment of accounts is illegal under the Constitution.As per ECP, PTI took funds from 34 foreigners, 351 businesses and companies.Funding is prohibited under Article 6 of the Political Parties Act and Imran Khan submitted form one which is based on misrepresentation and lies. The affidavit given regarding party accounts is also not correct.
The ECP decided to issue a show-cause notice to the PTI to explain why the commission should not seize the funds it received.
