Prime Minister reduces petrol prices by PKR 10 per liter and electricity by PKR 5 per unit

Islamabad February 28 2022: In a historic package to relief public from increasing inflation Prime Minister Imran khan in his address to nation announced decrease in priced of petrol by PKR 10 per liter and electricity prices by PKR 5 per unit.

SBP allowed financing for under construction housing units for buyers but with conditions


Prime minister added that OGRA has moved a summary to increase petrol prices by PKR 10 per liter but he has turned down OGRA summary and instead decided to decrease prices by PKR 10 per liter.

Prime Minister further added that “government has decided to reduce electricity prices by PKR 5 per unit which is a relief of 20 to 25 percent in comparison to current electricity bills.”

About establishing business Prime Minister said that no question will be asked if anyone wants to establish business or invest in Pakistan and government will announce complete package in the coming days.

He reiterated that the Information Technology sector, which included companies and freelancers, had been exempted from paying taxes, adding that they would also not face any restrictions on foreign exchange. Further, IT startups would no longer have to pay capital gains tax, he said.

Overseas Pakistanis would get tax holiday of five years if they invest in Pakistan.

Under the Kamyab Jawan programme, he said that the country’s youth and farmers would be given interest-free loans while low-income citizens would be given subsidised loans to build homes. “Loans worth Rs407 billion will be disbursed during two years.”
