Islamabad October 22 2021: Power generation went up by 7.1 percent YoY to 14,032 GWh (19,489 MW) during September 2021, compared to 13,104 GWh (18,200 MW) during September 2020.
During 9MCY21, power generation also increased by 10.3% YoY to 107,966 GWh (16,478 MW) compared with 97,845 GWh (14,879 MW) during 9MCY20.

Auto Financing Continue To Rise Despite Central Bank Tightening
During September 2021, fuel cost for power generation increased by 65 percent YoY to PKR 6.80/unit mainly due to rise in FO, coal, RLNG and gas based cost of generation, however hydel based power generation up by 4 percent YoY.
The rise in fuel cost by 65 percent YoY to PKR 6.80/unit during September 2021 was led by the following reasons;
- RLNG-based cost of generation increased by 120 percent YoY to PKR 14.9/unit due to 125 percent YoY rise in RLNG prices to PKR 2,586/mmbtu.
- Coal-based cost of generation was also up by 67 percent YoY to PKR 10.1/unit during September 20121 due to 182 percent YoY rise in coal prices.
- FO-based cost of generation increased by 54 percent YoY to PKR 19.2/unit.
- Gas-based cost of generation was also up by 23 percent YoY to PKR 8.3/unit.
