Islamabad June 16 2025: Pakistan’s Urea offtake was 418 thousand tonnes which increased by 4.6 per cent while DAP offtake was 95 thousand tonnes which also increased by 135.2 per cent over May 2024.
It is added that five year average (2020 to 2024) urea and DAP offtake during May was 403 and 87 thousand tonnes, respectively.
Total nutrient offtake during May 2025 was 311 thousand tonnes, which increased by 27.3 per cent over May 2024. Nitrogen and phosphate offtake increased by 17 and 108 per cent, respectively while potash offtake decreased by 18.7 per cent.
Cumulative nutrient offtake during Kharif 2025 (April-May) was 533 thousand tonnes, which increased by 9.3 per cent over Kharif 2024. Nitrogen, phosphate and potash offtake increased by 2.2, 44.2 and 0.1 per cent, respectively.
Urea offtake during Kharif 2025 (April-May) remained at 669 thousand tonnes (8.1 per cent less than Kharif 2024) whereas DAP offtake was 190 thousand tonnes (43 per cent higher than Kharif 2024). Increase in DAP offtake may be attributed mainly to disbursement of interest free loan to farming community by the Punjab Government through Kissan Card.
Total domestic fertilizer production during May 2025 was 849 thousand tonnes. Urea and DAP production was 606 and 78 thousand tonnes, respectively. Production of other products i.e. NP, CAN, SSP, NPKs and SOP was 77, 75, 7.2, 0.7 and 3.7 thousand tonnes, respectively. Total imported supplies were 53 thousand tonnes comprising 52 thousand tonnes of DAP, one thousand tonne of SOP and 0.1 thousand tonne of urea phosphate.
Price of urea (sona) and urea (other) decreased by 0.5 and 0.2 per cent, respectively while that of CAN increased by 0.8 per cent. Prices of DAP and NP increased by 2 and 1.2 percent, respectively while that of SSP decreased by 0.4 per cent,. The average price of urea (sona), urea (other) and DAP was PKR 4,476, PKR 4,363 and PKR 12,606 per 50 kg bag, respectively.
