Islamabad January 2 2025: Pakistan’s oil marketing companies (OMCs) witnessed an 3% year-over-year (YoY) rise in overall petroleum sales, with a total volume of 1.28 million tons in December 2024 compared to 1.24 million tons in December 2023.
Prices of both Motor Spirit and High Speed Diesel are down approximately 9% year-over-year, according to data published by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.
On month-over-month (MoM) sales were drop for the second consecutive month, with a 19% decline compared to November 2024, where sales stood at 1.58 million tons.
In December 2024, High-speed diesel (HSD) experienced a notable 12% YoY rise, with sales climbing to 0.57 million tons compared to 0.51 million tons in December 2023, while drop by 27% MoM.
Whereas, motor gasoline (MOGAS) recorded a drop of 1% YoY, reaching 0.57 million tons in December 2024, from 0.51 million tons the previous year, though MoM drop was substantial at 27%.
During the month fuel oil (FO) sales decreased by 48% year-over-year (YoY) to 0.04 million tons, down from 0.08 million tons in the same month of 2023. Despite this annual decline, there was a substantial month-over-month (MoM) increase of 12%.
During the first half of FY2025, total petroleum sales amounted to 8.03 million tons, a slight 4% incline from 7.68 million tons in the same period last year.
In the first half of FY2025, fuel oil (FO) sales plummeted by 38% year-over-year (YoY), falling to 0.35 million tons compared to 0.56 million tons in the same period last year.
High-speed diesel (HSD) sales showed improvement, with an increase of 10% YoY to 3.46 million tons. Motor gasoline (MOGAS) sales were also improved by 5% YoY, increasing to 3.75 million tons.
