Islamabad February 5 2025: Pakistan’s oil marketing companies (OMCs) witnessed flattish oil volumes on year-over-year (YoY), with a total volume of 1.38 million tons in January 2025.
Prices of both Motor Spirit and High Speed Diesel are down approximately 3.2% and 5.8% year-over-year, according to data published by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.
On month-over-month (MoM) sales were increased, with a 8% incline compared to December 2024, where sales stood at 1.28 million tons.
In January 2024, High-speed diesel (HSD) experienced a notable 17% YoY rise, with sales climbing to 0.60 million tons compared to 0.51 million tons in January 2024, while increased by 5% MoM.
Whereas, motor gasoline (MOGAS) recorded an increase of 1% YoY, reaching 0.62 million tons in January 2024, from 0.61 million tons the previous year, though MoM increase was substantial at 10%.
During the month fuel oil (FO) sales decreased by 68% year-over-year (YoY) to 0.06 million tons, down from 0.18 million tons in the same month of 2023. Despite this annual decline, there was a substantial month-over-month (MoM) increase of 40%.
During the first seven months of FY2025, total petroleum sales amounted to 9.41 million tons, a slight 4% incline from 9.07 million tons in the same period last year.
In the first seven months of FY2025, fuel oil (FO) sales plummeted by 46% year-over-year (YoY), falling to 0.41 million tons compared to 0.71 million tons in the same period last year.
High-speed diesel (HSD) sales showed improvement, with an increase of 11% YoY to 4.06 million tons. Motor gasoline (MOGAS) sales were also improved by 5% YoY, increasing to 4.37 million tons.
