Islamabad June 13 2023: Pakistan held talks with Turkmenistan for import of gas and also invited European countries to invest in LNG Sector in Pakistan, says Minister of State for Petroleum Dr. Musadik Malik.
He said we have also talked with the European countries to import gas through Pakistan from Turkmenistan, under which Pakistan will become transit hub regarding supply of gas to European countries.
He said the incumbent government has also initiated dialogue with the United States for Green Energy.
Addressing a news conference in Islamabad on Tuesday, he said an agreement has also been signed with Azerbaijan under which a cargo ship containing LNG will reach Pakistan every month, which will not only help meet the requirements of LNG, but it will also help decrease its prices.
The Minister of State said one-thirds gas in the country is being supplied to Fertilizer Sector in the country.
He said that circular debt vis-a-vis gas has been reduced to Zero due to prudent policies of the incumbent government.
About import of oil from Russia, Musadik Malik categorically stated that benefits of one lakh tons of crude oil imported from Moscow will be passed on the common man very soon.
He said supply of crude oil from Russia will be started after arrival of first ship, which will help slash its prices in Pakistan as well.
He said for the first time in the history of Pakistan, a Russian ship carrying crude oil docked in the country, which needs to be appreciated. He said our target is to convert one-third of the total oil consumption in Pakistan on Russian oil.
Strongly criticizing the hypocrisy and dual standard of the previous government of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, he questioned if signing an agreement with Russia can be a reason of ouster of the previous government, why the PML-N government has not been removed.
Musadik Malik said Pakistan is not included in any camp, but the epicenter of PML-N policies is only Pakistan and its development.
He said our government is also making its best efforts to sign a contract for setting up an oil refinery in Pakistan at a cost to 10 billion dollars. He said we are also working on the auction of 16 to 24 off-shore blocks.
