Pakistan Machinery Imports Decreased by 45% in First Half

Sub Heading December 2022 Machinery Imports down by 58 percent compared to December 2021

Islamabad January 19 2023: As per the latest data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), Pakistan Machinery imports witnessed an increase of 45 percent YoY during the first six months of the financial year 2023.

Country imported Textile Machinery worth USD 242 million which is down by 44 percent YoY during the first six months of the financial year 2023. The decrease in imports is triggered by imports restriction by the Government due to the prevailing external issues in the country.


Construction & Mining Machinery imports also decreased by 55 percent YoY during the first six months of the financial year 2023. The decline is witnessed due the same reason mentioned above.

Electrical Machinery & Apparatus imports also increased by 16 percent YoY during the first six months of the financial year 2023. Imports of Office Machine Including Data Processing Equipment, Telecom and Power Generating Machinery also decreased by 44 percent, 60 percent and 71 percent, respectively.

Agricultural Machinery & Implements imports also went down by 65 percent to USD 21 million during the first six months of the financial year 2023.
