Pakistan Get $1.5 Billion Thar Coal Based 1,320 MW Power Plant Under CPEC

Islamabad February 8 2023: Commercial Operations of Thar Coal Block-1 1,320 MW Power Plant started on 5th February 2023, according to management of the plant.

Reliability Run Test of Thar Coal Block-1 2x660MW Coal Fired Power Plant by Shanghai Electric completed successfully at noon time 12 o'clock on 4th February 2023. The Project officially entered into the commercial operation stage from 00:00 hours of 5th February 2023.

The operation of the Project has an annual production capacity of 9 billion kW h, which can meet the demand of 4 million local households and bring economic benefit by reducing fuel import, saving foreign exchange reserves and enhancing energy security of Pakistan.
