Dubai February 5 2023: Pakistan's former military president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf has passed away in Dubai after a long illness. He was undergoing treatment at the American National Hospital in Dubai.

President Dr Arif Alvi on Sunday expressed his grief over death of former president Gen. (retd) Pervez Musharraf.
The president expressed his condolence with the bereaved family, President Secretariat Press Wing said in a press release.


The president also prayed for the high ranks of the departed soul and for the bereaved family to bear the loss with fortitude.

The former president passed away in Dubai on Sunday morning where he was hospitalised due to a rare disease called amyloidosis.

The Pakistan Army Public Relations Department (ISPR) has also expressed grief over the death of Pervez Musharraf on behalf of the armed forces. Joint Chiefs of Army Staff Committee and Services Chiefs of Pakistan Army have expressed their heartfelt condolences on the death of General (Retd) Pervez Musharraf.

Pervez Musharraf served as the Army Chief for nearly nine years (1999-2008), becoming the 10th President of Pakistan in 2001 and holding the position until early 2008.
