Islamabad May 25, 2022: The government of Pakistan, through a notification under S.R.O No.607(I)2022 issued by the Industries and Production division, fixed urea prices at PKR 1,768/bag.
The said SRO will remain effective till 7th Jul’22.
The government of Pakistan is providing subsidized gas to fertilizer manufacturers on the understanding that the impact of subsidized gas will be passed on to the customers. In Pakistan, Fertilizer manufacturers are getting feedstock gas at a price of less than $1.5 per MMBTU against the international LNG prices ranging from $20-$30 per mmbtu.
The government takes this measure as it felt that the price increase of Rs165-249 per bag will impact the supply of Urea to farmers during the Kharif season and create a shortage of essential food items for the citizens and endanger the food security of the country.
