Islamabad September 19 2022: The Election Commission has reserved its decision after listening to the arguments of the lawyers of the parties on the Speaker National Assembly’s Toshakhana reference against Chairman Tehreek-e-Insaf Imran Khan.
During the hearing, the Chief Election Commissioner asked Imran Khan’s lawyer Ali Zafar that if concrete information is received after four months, can no action be taken? On this query, Ali Zafar said that action can be taken, but the Election Commission cannot do it.
Imran Khan’s lawyer said that if the commission comes to know about the hidden property of a member, it can refer the case to the Sessions Judge.
Member KP Ikramullah said that there is no need for a trial if there is a record under section 173 of the Election Act.
Ali Zafar said that it is important to disclose the assets at the end of the financial year.
Member KP Ikramullah said that it is not mandatory to disclose the amount of sold assets? Ali Zafar said that the amount of sold gifts is reflected in Imran Khan’s assets.
