Karachi August 19 2024: According to data from the State Bank of Pakistan, the banking sector’s deposits declined by 1.7 percentage MoM, reaching PKR 30,603 billion in July 2024.
Investments in the banking sector climbed to PKR 30,431 billion as of July 2024, marking a 0.9 percent MoM increase and a 41.8 percent YoY rise. On the other hand, Advances in the sector declined to PKR 11,872 billion, showing a 4.5 percent decrease on MoM and 0.2 percent YoY.
The advances-to-deposits ratio dropped to 38.8 percent in July 2024, compared to 40 percent in June 2024 and 46.3 percent in July 2023. Meanwhile, the investment-to-deposits ratio was 99.4 percent in July 2024, down from 96.9 percent in June 2024 but up from 83.5 percent in July 2023.
