Karachi November 15, 2021 : Mughal Energy Limited has sought modification pertains to the sizing of the project and in this regard, Installed Generation capacity of facility is being proposed to be changed to 36.5 MW from 55.0 MW, as per NEPRA.
Company sought changing of capacity to 36.5 MW consisting of 2 Steam Turbines (31.5 MW & 5 MVV) instead of the earlier capacity envisaged to be 55.00 MW (having 1 x 55.00 MW Steam Turbine).

The above generation facility is meant for supplying to distinct group companies of the Mughal group. In this regard, the beneficiaries companies have adopted energy conservative technologies and have accordingly re-assessed their electricity requirements. In view of the said, the project company has also revisited the sizing of the project and has decided to reduce the Installed Capacity to 36.5 MW.
The proposed reduction in the Installed Capacity of the generation facility will not have any impact on the tariff which is a bi-lateral arrangement in the competitive mode. Further, there will not be any adverse impact on the quality of service and obligation of the Licensee under its existing license.
