LSM falls 1.2 Percent after 15 months of Continuous Increase

Islamabad March 18 2022: Large Scale Manufacturing (LSMI) output increased by 6.3 percent for January 2022 compared to January 2021 to reach all time high of 186.9 and increased by 7.9 percent if compared to December 2021 according to data released by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

The overall output of LSMI increased by 3.9 % for July-January 2021-22 compared to July-January 2020-21.

The production in January 2022 as compared to January 2021 has increased in Textile (3.3 percent), Food, Beverages & Tobacco (11.0 percent), Pharmaceuticals (12.1 percent), Chemicals (2.0 percent), Automobiles (25.4 percent), Iron & Steel products (16.9 percent), Fertilizers (27.9 percent) and Paper & Paperboard (7.7 percent) while it Decreased in Coke & Petroleum Products (-0.7 percent), Non-Metallic Mineral Products (-17.2 percent), Electronics (-3.5 percent), Engineering (-12.8 percent), Leather Products (-1.7 percent) & Rubber Products (-2.1 percent).


The production in July-January 2021-22 as compared to July-January 2020-21 has increased Textile (1.4 percent), Food, Beverages & Tobacco (5.3 percent), Pharmaceuticals (1.1 percent), Chemicals (6.7 percent), Automobiles (34.4 percent), Iron & Steel products (22.8 percent), Leather Products (6.1 percent) and Paper & Paperboard (8.2 percent) while it Decreased in Coke & Petroleum Products (-0.5 percent), Non-Metallic Mineral Products (-3.1 percent), Fertilizers (-0.6 percent), Electronics (-7.9 percent), Engineering (-1.2 percent) & Rubber Products (-25.6 percent).
