Islamabad April 17 2025: The price of 24 karat per tola gold reached an unprecedented PKR 352,200 per tola on Thursday as Trump ordered a probe into potential new tariffs on all critical minerals imports on Tuesday, on top of reviews into pharmaceutical and chip imports.
It wasn’t just the premium gold that made headlines—22 Karat was marked at PKR 322,848, 21 Karat at PKR 308,175, and even 18 Karat gold climbed to PKR 264,150 per tola.
For those measuring in grams, the numbers told the same story. A single gram of 24 Karat gold now costs PKR 30,196, while 10 grams are priced at PKR 301,960. The international benchmark—per ounce gold—also reflected the surge, standing at PKR 939,210.
Spot gold was down 0.8 percent to USD 3,317.63 an ounce, as of 0717 GMT. Bullion has gained over 2 percent so far this week. U.S. gold futures shed 0.5 percent to USD 3,330.60.
