Karachi May 6 2025: The trading operations of Akhai Securities (Pvt.) Limited have been immediately restricted after its liquid capital was found to be below the regulatory minimum threshold, according to a notice issued under the Securities Broker (Licensing and Operations) Regulations, 2016.
The restriction follows clause 6(6) of the regulations, which mandates that in the event of non-submission or deficiency in net capital balance or liquid capital, the trading facility of the concerned broker must be limited. The clause empowers the securities exchange and clearing house to allow only the closure of open positions in a controlled environment under such circumstances.
In accordance with this rule, the relevant authorities have verified that Akhai Securities failed to maintain the required liquid capital levels, triggering immediate action. The company will now only be allowed to settle existing positions, with no new trading activity permitted until compliance is restored.
Market participants have been advised of the development, highlighting the importance of capital adequacy and regulatory compliance in maintaining market stability.
