Lahore May 16 2023: In an important meeting chaired by caretaker Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi on Tuesday morning, the decision to take action under the Army Act was approved against the suspects who attacked army installations and properties during the last week.
During the meeting, the law and order situation in the province and legal proceedings against those responsible for the incidents of arson and encirclement that occurred on May 9 were reviewed and the decision was approved in principle that an investigation team should be formed for the cases against those involved in Punjab.
Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi issued orders to ensure the arrest of the persons involved in the incidents of May 9 as soon as possible and emphasized on the cooperation of all security agencies to identify the real culprits of these incidents.
According to the press release issued by the Punjab government, during the meeting, it was directed to devise an effective mechanism to reach the accused, facilitators and masterminds of the May 9 incidents.
Briefing the meeting, the police officials said that the accused are being traced by geo-fencing 32 locations while help is being taken from the NADRA database for facial recognition in photographs and videos.
The Chief Minister directed on the occasion that the police authorities should work in a professional manner to ensure that no innocent person is arrested and after the completion of a professional and legally effective investigation, the prosecution should do its job well so that anyone responsible did not escape.
Chief Secretary Punjab, Inspector General Police, Additional Chief Secretary, Additional IG Special Branch, CCPO Lahore, Additional Chief Secretary Home, Secretary Law Punjab, Commissioner Lahore Division and concerned officials attended the meeting.
